PIANO LESSONS: JOCELYN CHEN
Jocelyn Chen is a classically trained pianist and music teacher. Her studies led her to Stanford University where she graduated from Laura Dahl's studio with a B.A. in music as well as a B.S. in chemistry and an M.S. in materials science and engineering.
Her musical teaching philosophy is to inspire and equip students to explore the classical music world and how it shapes the music of today. A large emphasis during lessons is on listening -- listening to discover new music, appreciate how and why music moves our souls, and hear how our instruments respond to the way we play. She has eight years of experience teaching piano performance, music theory, ear training, and music appreciation for students of all ages: her students have ranged from the smallest of toddlers to college music majors to new adult learners. Ultimately, her goal is to co-create a love and appreciation for music with every student, a gift that will accompany them for the rest of their lives.
